Trichomonas (TV)

kiwi Trichomonas Vaginalis is a Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI)

Although a man can carry the infection in the penis and pass it on, they rarely get symptoms. It is not easily detected in a man - for that reason it is not routinely part of a man’s STI check-up.

For women it can be silent with no symptoms, but it can also lead to a discharge with or without an odour and sometimes itchiness. Women can get tested for TV at a Sexual Health Clinic.

It can be cured with a short course of antibiotics and Sexual contacts need to be treated.
